P@trick is a constantly curious musician, creating intimate and immersive music, challenging listeners with work that evokes complex feelings and vivid imagery. Scientist and Creative, harnessing the power of the left and right brain, P@trick has interwoven his vast range of life experience and deep-seated passion for songwriting to breathe life into his dream of being an artist. The emotional demands of the arts and the sciences are often musically exclusive – but he is able to reconcile the two competing muses.
P@trick released his debut single “Fall off the Edge of the World” to universally positive reviews in Feb 2022, and will release his next single “Discover/Recover” in July/August 2022.
These singles came from a recent fruitful period of songwriting with I Heart Songwriting Club, a collaborative online weekly songwriting group, which has seen P@trick write over 30 songs in less than 6 months. Working from his Melbourne based apartment and recording on equipment such as amplifiers, microphones and effects pedals which he designed and built from scratch, the two singles represent influences as diverse as Crowded House and Chvrches. Upbeat melodies are intermingled with lyrics simultaneously capturing the juxtaposition of sadness and hope, loss and joy.
A multi-instrumentalist, P@trick trained as a classical guitarist for a year at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts before diverting into the sciences. He is an accomplished vocalist, singing with both the Sydney and Melbourne Philharmonia Choir.
“When people asked me what I write about and why, I used to say ‘the music is all that matters’. But more recently I’ve come to appreciate it’s the sum of all the experiences that went into living it and creating it that allows it to really connect with people, to make it matter” he says.
